Have you ever heard the saying, When the student is ready, the teacher will appear? Well, that’s the energy of the Hierophant.

Traditionally, the Heirophant is represented as a priest or religious leader but in modern decks such as the one pictured, you may see a teacher, professor, guru or guide. This card can speak of tradition, study, spiritual leaders, spirit guides, enlightenment and awakening. In short, it is the card of wisdom.

As we travel this road we call life, there are many who step in and out of our journey and help us to develop and define our systems of belief. However, tradition and teaching aside, this card has it’s essence in spirituality. While this may be different for each person, the foundation is the same. It is finding that which feeds our soul and helps us to grow as spiritual beings.

This card is asking you to find that which nourishes not your body but your soul. And, when you ask, the right teacher will appear. This teacher does not have to be one in the traditional sense, it may be a neighbour, a friend, a passerby in the street. Our life lessons can come from anywhere when we seek them with an open heart and are willing to listen to the messages our spirit’s crave in order to grow and flourish.

We are all teachers just as we are all students. May we learn with each other and from each other, awakening within us the path to enlightenment.
