Feeling stuck, sacrifice, a new perspective, uncertainty, needing release, surrender and enlightenment. These all describe the energy of the Hanged man.
There is sometimes a lot of fear around this card when it appears in a reading. The Hanged man is not without its challenges for sure but, in reality, the central challenge is a fear of change.
The Hanged man asks us to look at things from a new perspective. Maybe we are stuck in old routines, old stories or old patterns. But, look at this woman. Instead of panicking about her new position, she is embracing her surrounds. Taking in the feel of the water, bathing in the light of inspiration. To move forward on her journey, all she needs to do is let go.
Sounds easy right? OK, maybe not. But if you feel stuck in your current situation moving forward can only be achieved by changing our perspective.
I am reminded by a famous quote attributed to Albert Einstein. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results”. This is the Hanged man’s reality unless there is a willingness change.
