Hey Everyone,
Thought I’d do something different today.
I drew three cards for this weekend (May 8th – 10th 2020) . This may not resonate for everyone as it is a general reading.
I’m using the Archangel Power Tarot Cards by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine. It’s not a deck I often use but I felt compelled to draw from it for this reading.
Card 1 – The Moon – Major Arcana 18
Card 2 – The Empress – Major Arcana 3
Card 3 – Five of Raphael (5 of Cups)

I was drawn to the words, hidden agendas, feeling disappointed, frustrated that plans can’t move forward, mothers.
Being Mother’s Day in Australia (and I think the USA) this weekend, many of us who are still under COVID-19 restrictions are feeling the frustrations of not being able to visit with and hug our Mothers.
The Empress is the Divine Mother so it makes sense that she should appear as the middle card for this spread. With the Moon to the left indicating secrets or things that are hidden, many of us are feeling resentful that the woman who means so much to us, cannot be thanked in person for the life she has given us. This is also displayed in the 5 of cups, a card that shows the disappointment of three spilled cups. However, with this card to the right, we are reminded that two cups are still standing strong. Rather than focusing on what we don’t have, this card reminds us to focus on what we do. We live in a time of advanced technology. We can call, facetime, message those we love. We can meet virtually to share a coffee, a piece of cake, the opening of a gift sent through the mail. Sure, it’s not the same as actually being there, but it is an alternative.
Life is full of thwarted plans. The trick is to not dwell on what has been lost but rather focus on what we still have. Reading stories of people who lived during the Spanish Flu has reminded me of how lucky we are. We can still call our loved ones, see them on our screens and share our day to day joys and sorrows.
May you find some joy this weekend in whatever is it you have planned. And, if you have no plans, get creative and come up with something. The Empress is also about growth and fertility. Plant some seeds, dig in the garden, create a flower bed with pots if you don’t have a yard. It is amazing how a change in perspective can improve our day. I know it’s not always easy but many times the effort is worth it.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mum’s and mother figures in our lives. Find something positive in this new reality. And trust that ‘this, too, shall pass’. 💗xx
