General Reading for the Weekend 16/17th May 2020

Card 1 – 2 of Wands
Card 2 – Hierophant (Major Arcana 5)
Card 3 – Death/Rebirth (Major Arcana 13)
We are hearing quite a bit lately about the ‘Road out of Covid’ and, as a result, more freedoms are being given to us as a society.
With the three cards drawn I see, for many of us, a lifting of the veil. The past eight weeks have seemed a little surreal at times. Our lives have changed so quickly and we’ve been challenged to do things in a new way.
With the Hierophant as the centre, we are being encouraged to seek wisdom. Some of us will find that wisdom within ourselves, others will seek it through a friend, a teacher, a doctor, a minister. In other words, anyone to whom we look to for clarification and learning. The Hierophant also reminds us to use common sense. While some may joke that common sense seems lacking in our world today, the truth is, it still exists. We just need to find it and embrace it. For me, personally, it means listening to the advice of medical experts and not falling victim to various ‘opinions’ on social media. That’s not to say, one is right or one is wrong. But this is where we need to embrace the Hierophant energy and use our own innate wisdom to decipher the fact from the fiction.
But what of the cards either side?
I love the 2 of Wands. It is suggesting for many of us, we are beginning to make future plans. We are starting to see what lies a head and think about possibilities beyond this self-isolation and lockdown. While world travel may not be featuring anytime soon, visiting family and friends is now a possibility. If you are feeling down at the moment, make a list of those things you are looking forward to doing again and put a star next to those things you could possibly even do this weekend or in the coming week.
And Death? Well, it is important to focus on the true meaning of this card. It is about rebirth and transformation. How fitting for the current state of our world. We are in a period of rebirth. We are restructuring the way we do things, rethinking our possibilities, re-emerging from our time of hibernation. Even our world with its cleaner waterways and air-space has been through a rebirth of sorts. As we take this “Road out of Covid”, we are, in fact, embracing the energy of the Death card.
So, to put them all together?
Begin to make plans, re-invent yourself but do it with the wisdom and responsibility of the Hierophant.
